Why is Mary Kom denied of the the Highest sport honour of the country?

North East Twenty20 league to be held in Shillong

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Cricket Association (MCA) has planned a Twenty20 cricket tournament, comprising teams from all the BCCI-affiliated states in north eastern India. Shillong will host the tournament scheduled for January 19-23. Besides Meghalaya, Assam, Tripura, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland, are expected to feature in the tournament, which will carry a prize money of Rs 3 lakh.
The MCA is also trying to get a few former international cricketers to represent the different teams, said Naba Bhattacharjee, the association’s secretary.

GANGTOK (Sikkim): Barring the twelve top clubs in the country which is participating in the I-league, most of the other premier teams like Army XI, Tata Football Academy (TFA), New Delhi Heroes and BSF (Jalandar) are participating in this coveted tournament.

NEW DELHI: Three goals by H. Lalnufela helped Government Central Higher Secondary School (Mizoram) to a 4-1 victory over NCC, West Bengal and Sikkim, in the quarterfinals of the junior section in the Subroto Cup football tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Sunday.
K. Lalawmpuia scored the other goal for the Mizoram team. Santanu Sarkar had put the NCC team in the lead in the fifth minute, but the team could not fight on after taking the match into extra-time at 1-1.

DU to host inter-varsity meet

DIBRUGARH: Dibrugarh University will host the East Zone leg of the inter-university badminton championship as well as the all-India inter-zonal badminton meet on the university campus in the first week of November.
The Association of Indian Universities (AIU) has given the necessary clearance to Dibrugarh University to organise the tournament.
The Dibrugarh University Sports Board has been successfully holding inter-college badminton meets every year and has 114 colleges, from the seven Upper Assam districts of Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Sivasagar, Jorhat, Golaghat, Lakhimpur and Dhemaji, under its jurisdiction.
